Offline-first AI decision-support tool that helps CHPS workers prioritize household follow-ups in rural Northern Ghana
# NurtureAI Ghana
**Offline-first AI decision-support tool for CHPS community health workers in rural Northern Ghana**
NurtureAI Ghana helps CHPS workers prioritize household follow-ups for pregnant women, mothers and newborns.
---
## The Problem
CHPS workers are responsible for many households. When planning visits, they often lack a simple way to turn the information they already collect into a clear priority list. As a result, higher-risk households may not always receive timely follow-up.
---
## Our Solution
NurtureAI Ghana is an offline-first tool that:
- Uses information CHPS workers already collect
- Analyzes it to prioritize households
- Shows clear explanations for each recommendation
- Keeps the final decision with the health worker
It supports the CHPS worker — it does not replace them.
---
## Key Features (MVP)
- Simple household information input
- AI prioritization of households
- Prioritized list (Priority / Monitor / Routine)
- Explainable recommendations
- Offline-first design
- Low digital burden
---
## How It Works
1. CHPS worker enters or selects relevant indicators
2. System analyzes the information
3. Households are prioritized
4. Clear reasons are shown
5. Health worker makes the final decision
---
## Design Principles
- Offline-first
- Low digital burden
- Explainable AI
- Human decision-making
- Community-level focus
- Responsible data handling
---
## Prototype
A working Python prototype (`nurtureai_ghana.py`) is included in this repository.
It demonstrates the core prioritization logic for the hackathon MVP.
