Overview The Solar-Powered Automated Toilet System is an intelligent sanitation platform designed to address critical hygiene and water scarcity challenges in off-grid and resource-limited environments. By integrating occupancy detection, waste sensing, and solar energy, the system delivers automated flushing, lighting, ventilation, and deodorization while reducing water consumption by up to 43.7%. Built using Arduino microcontroller technology, low-cost sensors (ultrasonic and TDS), and renewable solar power, the system operates independently of grid electricity and provides hands-free sanitation that improves public health outcomes in rural areas, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps resulting from the Boko Haram crisis in northeastern Nigeria, and underserved communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. ## 2.
