SENTRY — Surveillance and Early Notification Tool for community Risk in Ghana
Overview
SENTRY is an AI-powered early warning system that predicts disease outbreak risks across Ghana's community health zones. It analyses routine health data to alert district health officers about which communities are likely to face a health crisis — before it happens.
Problem
Ghana collects weekly health data from over 5,000 CHPS zones nationwide through DHIMS2. However this data is largely used for reporting rather than prediction. Health officers respond to crises after they occur rather than preventing them.
Our Solution
SENTRY uses machine learning to identify patterns in historical health data and generate risk scores for each community — flagging high risk zones early so resources can be deployed in advance.
Dataset
Ghana DHIMS2 health facility data
Ghana Meteorological Agency climate data
Ghana Statistical Service population data
