Burkina Faso recorded the highest average incidence across the decade. Nigeria ranked among the highest burden countries, with a mean incidence of approximately 350 per 1,000 — nearly double the continental average throughout the period.

Analysis of 132 country-year combinations with complete data showed a near-zero correlation (r = 0.010) between bed net coverage and incidence. This finding is considered unreliable due to 77.8% missing data and likely reflects reporting bias rather than a genuine absence of effect.
