Sources: - Production of critical minerals, share of global production and ranking: World Mining Data 2025 , 2023 data - Present and future demand of critical minerals: IEA's Critical Minerals Dataset , May 2025 update - Africa's critical minerals exports: UN Comtrade database , 2023 data - Political stability: World Bank's Worldwide Governance Indicators , 2023 data World Mining Data is an annual report with production figures of 65 mineral commodities from 168 countries, collected through the evaluation of questionnaires sent to national bodies. It is authored by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF). The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an autonomous intergovernamental organisation providing policy recommendations, analysis and data. They based this dataset on inputs from national administrations, previous IEA models and literature review. IEA data includes a lower number of critical minerals than WMD. We have looked into IEA's 'stated policies scenario' only​. The World Bank , the international institution providing loans to governments of middle to low-income countries, compiles its Worldwide Governance Indicators on the perceptions of the quality of governance in more than 200 economies.
