Pas Op - hyper-local community road-alert app concept for Swakopmund, Namibia (interactive mockup)
# Pas Op
**Pas Op** (Afrikaans for *"watch out!"*) — an interactive concept mockup for a hyper-local, community-reported **road-alert app for Swakopmund, Namibia**. Drivers report potholes, traffic, closures and police checkpoints on a shared, live map.
> ⚠️ This is a **clickable concept mockup**, not a working app. Every pin, badge, street label and number is sample data.
## Try it
Open the live demo — best on a phone:
**
erastusm.github.io
**Install it (it's a PWA):** open the link on your phone, then add it to your home screen — iOS Safari: *Share → Add to Home Screen*; Android Chrome: *⋮ menu → Install app / Add to Home screen*. It launches full-screen with its own icon and works **offline** once opened.
## What's in the demo
- **Onboarding** — welcome → location → pick your town → how it works
- **Live map** — colour-coded hazard pins, your-location puck, one-tap reporting
- **Report details** — confirm/decay voting ("Still there / Cleared") that keeps the map trustworthy
- **Profile + gamification** — XP, rank, badges, streak and a local leaderboard
- **Navigation mode** — turn-by-turn with hands-free hazard call-outs
## Design notes
- Amber "beacon" identity (the **O** in *Pas Op* is the alert beacon) on a night-map slate ground
- Colour-coded reports: pothole, traffic, crash, closure, construction, police, flooding, hazard
- Light/dark theme-aware; follows the device theme
- Built as a single self-contained `index.html` (no build step, no dependencies)
- **Installable PWA** — web app manifest + service worker, offline app-shell caching, maskable/home-screen icons
## Status
Concept / design exploration. Name, scope and tech stack are still being decided.
