# ApexCeloGrid
**An open public ledger for Nigeria's electricity generation — on Celo.**
A free, open-source system that records **verified** electricity generation — from solar
mini-grids to any generator in Nigeria — onto a public blockchain that anyone can read,
verify, and build on. Reading is free forever. There is no token and nothing to buy.

## Project status & taking it to production
This project is offered as a **complete, open-source contribution**: a working, tested,
documented smart contract and toolkit, proven end-to-end on a public blockchain (the Celo
Sepolia testnet deployment above). It is intentionally finished at *"published and
documented"* — anyone is free to adopt, fork, and run it.
**Taking it to Celo mainnet is an adoption step, not an authoring one.** It carries real
responsibilities — funding gas, securing keys, and governing accreditation — that belong to
whoever operates it in production (a mini-grid operator, the REA, a state agency, a
university, or a developer). When you're ready to own those responsibilities:
1. Use a **secure wallet** (ideally set the contract owner to a governance **multisig**, e.g.
a Safe shared among stakeholders) — never a key that has been
shared or reused.
2. Fund the deployer with a small amount of **real CELO** for gas (deployment is well under a
US cent, but keep a buffer).
3. Deploy: `OWNER_ADDRESS= npm run deploy:celo`
