Whatsapp chatbot to communicate, keep track and create awareness about COVID-19 to the society. # COVID-19 Naija WhatsApp ChatBot Ever since Nigeria records its first case of COVID-19 on the 28th of February, 2020. Since then, the number of cases has risen to 665 as of 20th April 2020. There are global efforts in many sections of society to collate and visualize data on the epidemic. Many developers have created tools to engages people in society to create awareness about COVID-19 in Nigeria, some created mobile applications while some created web applications, to make people keep track of what is going on and how to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country. So a few weeks back I receive a message from Mallam Abdullahi Abubakar about a project idea using Whatsapp chatbot to communicate, keep track and create awareness about COVID-19 to the society, that is after the creation of an API created by Abdusalam Abubakar. ## The question is why COVID-19 Naija (WhatsApp ChatBot). * Due to the high expensive rate of internet data bundle, many Nigerians won’t be able to download apps or go to the web to search for information. * Over 98% of mobile users in Nigeria have Whatsapp application both on android and iOS. * All network provider in Nigeria has special cheap WhatsApp data plan for mobile users. * WhatApp is very easy to use and understand. ## How to use COVID-19 Naija (WhatsApp ChatBot) ### Here are the guidelines on how to use it. * Save this WhatsApp Number: +1 (415) 523–8886 after you save the number. * Open your WhatsApp search the number open and send the below code. Join dawn-tight. * After that, you will receive an auto-reply saying “Twilio Sandbox: ✅ You are all set! The sandbox can now send/receive messages from Whatsapp:+14155238886. Reply stop to leave the sandbox any time.” that means you are all set, what next is to send any greeting word like Hi, Hello or hay, the bot will take care of the rest. just follow the instruction from the bot. ### Some features will soon be added. ## Here are some screenshots.
