They raided the headquarters of the other two operators (Sudatel and MTN) at gunpoint in February 2024, triggering a 101-day nationwide blackout affecting 14 million people. 2. **Satellite Internet (Starlink)** — SpaceX Starlink terminals are smuggled into Sudan through UAE-based networks controlled by the RSF. The RSF taxes each terminal $500/year, charges $5/hour at RSF-controlled cafes, and uses the terminals to guide drone strikes and coordinate military operations.
