a prototype connecting kids to soccer teams/coaches in areas without formal leagues (built with South Sudan in mind), plus an AI-personalized training session generator (age, build, equipment) that pairs each session with a life lesson. Built solo with the Claude API." # pitchconnect PitchConnect A prototype by David Leyva — grassroots football (soccer) infrastructure for communities that don't have any yet. The problem In many parts of the world, kids who want to play organized football hit the same wall: there's no nearby team, no formal league, and no coach with the training or resources to run one. Talent exists everywhere, but the infrastructure to discover it, organize it, and develop it doesn't. This is especially true in low-resource regions — places like South Sudan, but also underserved communities across Latin America and elsewhere — where the barrier isn't interest or ability, it's the absence of structure: no one to connect with, no formal way to train, and no path that leads anywhere, even for a kid with real potential. What PitchConnect does PitchConnect is a working prototype built around two core ideas: 1. Connect — A lightweight directory where players, coaches, and organizers register with basic information (age, location, experience or team size, available equipment). The system uses AI to match complementary people in the same region: a player looking for a team gets connected to a coach nearby, or to other players trying to form one from scratch. This is the piece that matters most in places where a formal league simply doesn't exist yet — it turns scattered individuals into the seed of an organized team. 2. Training — A session generator that builds an individualized football training plan based on a player's age, physical build, experience level, and whatever equipment is actually available to them (which might be as little as open space and no ball). Every session pairs practical drills with a short, age-appropriate life lesson tied to a value the sport teaches — discipline, patience, teamwork — because the goal isn't just technical development, it's using football as a vehicle for growth. Both modules run on the Claude API in real time, and the directory persists across sessions, so the matching g …
