Code for malaria-focused analysis of 2019-20 Rwanda DHS # RW2019DHS Code for malaria-focused analysis of 2019-20 Rwanda DHS Objective: Provide nationally-representative measures of malaria infection in Rwandan adults sampled in the 2019-20 Rwanda Demographics and Health Survey (RDHS). Methods: Perform malaria-specific quantitative PCR (qPCR) on dried blood spot (DBS) samples collected for DHS HIV evaluation. 50% of DBS samples were randomly selected from each capture area (cluster), then samples determined malaria-positive by RDT or microscopy performed in the DHS and those within clusters reporting high (>15%) malaria prevalence by RDT or microscopy were added to the sample set. The folowing steps were taken 1. Randomly select 50% of DBS from each of 500 clusters. 2. Identify clusters with high (>/=15%) malaria prevalence using RDHS-reported RDT or microscopy-based Plasmodium spp. detection data. Samples that were not initially selected were added to the final data set. 3. Determine qPCR positivity of samples 4. Combine DHS datasets using guidelines found here: dhsprogram.com
