# Nigeria Agricultural Exports Analysis ## Project Overview This project analyzes Nigeria's agricultural export data to uncover key drivers of export value, profitability, and port-level efficiency across products, companies, and destination markets. The analysis goes beyond revenue to identify where profit is truly generated and what strategies drive sustainable export performance. --- ## Data Source & Tools - **Dataset:** Nigeria Agricultural Export Dataset - **Tools:** Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Star Schema Modeling --- ## Data Preparation - Standardized product, company, country, and port fields - Built a star schema model with DAX measures for Export Value, Profit, Profit Margin, and YoY Growth --- ## Key Findings **Overall Performance** - $16bn export value — up 34.5% from last year - $3bn profit at a 20.2% margin (slight -0.3% YoY dip) - 537K units sold across 8 product categories **Products** - Cocoa leads in export value ($2.4bn) but carries the lowest margin (18.9%) - Cassava and Sesame deliver the strongest margins (21.8% and 21.0%) - High revenue ≠ high profitability **Markets** - Top destinations: Italy ($2.0bn), Denmark & France ($1.8bn each) - Export demand is heavily concentrated in Western Europe **Ports** - Lagos handles 59.68% of all export value — a critical concentration risk - Warri, Port Harcourt, and Calabar each handle roughly 13% of the remainder --- ## Recommendations - Prioritize high-margin products (Cassava, Sesame, Ginger) for growth - Diversify destination markets beyond Western Europe - Build port capacity at Warri and Port Harcourt to reduce Lagos dependency - Track profit per product, not just units sold
