# Analysing the Drivers of Agricultural Insurance Engagement among Poultry Farmers in Northern Nigeria
---
## OVERVIEW
Agricultural insurance plays a key role in reducing farming risks such as livestock disease outbreaks, market shocks, and climate-related losses. In Northern Nigeria, poultry farming is an important livelihood activity, yet engagement with agricultural insurance remains uneven.
This project examines the **drivers of agricultural insurance engagement** among poultry farmers, focusing on awareness, perceived benefits, and the institutional and socio-economic factors shaping farmers’ decisions. The study does not focus on participation rates but instead explores the behavioural and structural determinants of insurance uptake.

- **Socio-economic Factors**
- Examine how income, education, farm size, and farming experience influence insurance engagement patterns.
- **Institutional Influence**
- Explore the role of banks and credit institutions in shaping insurance adoption, particularly through loan-linked requirements.
