Interactive Tableau dashboard analyzing sickle cell disease prevalence and mortality across 54 African countries (2000–2021). Combines Python, data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and geospatial visualization to identify high-burden regions and examine prevalence–mortality patterns over time. # Africa Sickle Cell Disease Dashboard ## Project Overview This project analyzes sickle cell disease prevalence and mortality across 54 African countries using IHME / Global Burden of Disease estimates. The final deliverable is an interactive Tableau dashboard supported by a reproducible Python analysis workflow, cleaned Tableau-ready data, chart exports, and project documentation. The dashboard focuses on country-level comparisons from 2000-2021 and allows users to explore how sickle cell burden varies geographically and across selected years. ## Research Question Where is sickle cell disease burden highest across Africa, and how do country-level prevalence and mortality patterns compare over time? The dashboard explores this question through: - A country-level prevalence heat map - Top 10 prevalence and mortality rankings - A prevalence vs mortality relationship view - A dynamic year filter - A dynamic annual key finding - A static dashboard insight summarizing the overall burden pattern ## Dashboard Preview **Interactive Dashboard:** Explore the live Tableau Public dashboard here: Sickle Cell Disease Dashboard ### Interaction Examples **Benin highlight:** Shows how selecting a high-burden country updates the map, rankings, scatter view, and dashboard context. **Nigeria highlight:** Shows country-level highlighting across the dashboard while preserving the selected-year analytical view. ## Data Source **Source:** IHME GBD 2021 Sickle Cell Disease Estimates This project uses IHME / Global Burden of Disease 2021 sickle cell disease estimates. ## Data Access The original source data used in this project originates from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database. Due to IHME data licensing and distribution policies, raw source datasets are not included in this repository. This repository contains only processed analytical outputs and dashboard-ready datasets created for educational and portf …
