a catalogue of kenya LSC datasets
# Kenya Land Soil Crop Catalogue
The LSC catalogue is a catalogue for Kenyan LSC datasets, services and applications. The content of this catalogue is published at intervals at
kenya.lsc-hubs.org. This repository is an experimental setup to research participatory content management in the land soil crop domain.
## Land Soil Crop Hubs project
The DESIRA LSC project is under development. The objective of the project is to develop sustainable land, soil, and crop information hubs in national agricultural research organizations in East Africa to enhance the effectiveness of national Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) and contribute to rural transformation and climate-smart agriculture. Read more on the lsc-hubs website.
## Contribute to this repository
You can suggest new content, and content modifications and participate in discussions, or fork this repository and create pull requests to suggest new content or content updates directly.
An initial inventorisation of information for this repository has been made by content experts and by a questionnaire to stakeholders.
A guideline for information that can be added to the LSC hubs is:
- Relevant to the topic of land soil crop (agronomy)
- Data available at a common location in an accessible format (access constraints may apply, but if so, should be documented)
- Dataset documentation (metadata) available
## Metadata as files
Each file in the repository represents a metadata record describing a resource.
Record files are clustered by source (portal) in a portals folder and by spatial scope (Global, Africa, Country). You can also filter on those tags to find your relevant file.
Records are stored in the metadata control file format (MCF). MCF is a subset of ISO19139:2007, encoded in YAML.
Use a text editor (preferably with YML validation/syntax highlighting) to edit YML files. Alternatively, an online tool exists to create and edit MCF files at
