# Energy Access Analysis: Sub-Saharan Africa
This project analyzes electricity access trends across Sub-Saharan Africa,
focusing on markets where off-grid solar solutions have the highest potential
impact — including Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda. Using publicly available World
Bank and IEA data, I examined how access to electricity has changed over time,
identified regions with the largest access gaps, and explored correlations
with rural population share and income levels.
## Objective
To understand where off-grid/renewable energy solutions could have the
greatest impact, similar to the markets served by pay-as-you-go solar
companies.

## Key Findings
Kenya showed the strongest improvement in electricity access, rising from
42% (2016) to 67% (2024).
- Uganda showed steady growth, increasing from 18% to 45% over the same period.
- Nigeria lagged behind and showed inconsistent progress, even declining
slightly by 2024 (33% to 24%) — suggesting it may have the greatest need
for off-grid solar solutions among the three markets.
