# English-Amharic Translator Bot A Telegram bot that translates English text to Amharic using an external translation API. ## Features - Receives messages from users or groups - Translates English text to Amharic - Replies with the translated text ## Requirements - Python 3.7+ - Telegram Bot Token - Translation API Key (and endpoint, if required) ## Installation 1. Clone this repository: ```bash git clone cd English_amharic-translator-bot ``` 2. Create and activate a virtual environment (optional but recommended): ```bash python -m venv .venv .venv\Scripts\activate # On Windows ``` 3. Install dependencies: ```bash pip install -r requirements.txt ``` ## Configuration 1. Create a `.env` file in the project root with the following content: ```env TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN=your_telegram_bot_token BOT_USERNAME=@your_bot_username TRANSLATION_API_KEY=your_translation_api_key TRANSLATION_API_URL=api.translateapi.ai ``` Replace the values with your actual credentials. ## Usage 1. Start the bot: ```bash python app.py ``` 2. Send a message to your bot on Telegram. The bot will reply with the Amharic translation. ## Troubleshooting - **Conflict: terminated by other getUpdates request**: Make sure only one instance of the bot is running. - **Translation failed / 403 Forbidden**: Check your translation API key and endpoint in the `.env` file. ## License MIT License
