This project introduces a National Agricultural Services Database designed to digitize the coffee value chain. By integrating National Identification (NIN) data with geospatial farm mapping, this system will provide the "Actionable Intelligence" needed to reach Uganda’s national goal of exporting 20 million bags of coffee annually. # NATIONAL-COFFEE-FARMER-AND-RESOURCE-DATABASE- # Introduction Coffee farming is the backbone of Uganda's agricultural economy and contributing approximately 15% of the country’s foreign exchange earnings. With coffee grown in 126 out of 135 districts, including major hubs like Mukono, Mbale, and Kasese, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) faces a massive data challenge. Currently, the lack of a centralized, secure database prevents the Ministry from accurately tracking individual farmer yields, managing seedling distribution, and deploying extension services effectively. This project introduces a National Agricultural Services Database designed to digitize the coffee value chain. By integrating National Identification (NIN) data with geospatial farm mapping, this system will provide the actionable intelligence needed to reach Uganda’s national goal of exporting 20 million bags of coffee annually. # MILESTONE ONE ## 2. Functional Requirements The following key functional requirements have been refined to align with the Ministry’s digital transformation goals: 2.1. Farmer and Farm Management ● Hierarchical Registration: The system shall register farmers and link them to a specific path which is region and District. ● Identity Integrity: The system must enforce uniqueness for National IDs and Phone Numbers to prevent ghost farmer profiles and duplicate resource allocation. ● Ownership Mapping: The system shall allow a single farmer to own and manage multiple distinct farms. ● Farm Profiling: For every farm, the system must store specific agricultural data including soil type, hectarage, and coffee species (Arabica, Robusta, or Liberica). # 2.2. Production Tracking & Quality Control ● Seasonal Logging: The system shall record harvest data (quantity in kg and harvest date) while distinguishing between the main and fly seasons. ● Quality Standardization: The system must enforce UCDA grading standards (Grade A, B, C, or Ungr …
