Free voice-to-text tuned for South African English — types into any app. No API key, no account, never saves your audio. # SupaVoice **Free voice-to-text that types straight into any website field — built for South African English.** Speak, and your words appear where your cursor is. No API key. No account. No cost. Your voice recording is never saved. *A free, open alternative to paid dictation tools, tuned for how we actually speak in Mzansi.* --- ## Why SupaVoice? Most dictation tools are trained on American accents and get South African speech wrong — mangling *braai*, *bakkie*, *lekker*, *eish*, *Joburg*, *Khayelitsha*. SupaVoice fixes that with a South African English correction layer on top of a free, built-in speech engine, and picks the most South-African-sounding result from several guesses. - **SA English tuned** — around 100 local words, slang and place names auto-corrected - **Completely free** — uses your browser's built-in speech engine, no paid API - **Private** — your audio is never stored or saved; live stream only - **Noise cancellation** — echo, background noise and volume handled automatically - **Floating panel** — a small window with a live waveform so you see it hearing you - **Types anywhere** — into any text field on any website --- ## What's in this repo | Folder / file | What it is | Use it on | |---------------|-----------|-----------| | `chrome-extension/` | Browser extension — hotkey `Ctrl+Shift+Space`, dictates into any website field | Desktop Chrome / Edge | | `index.html` + `manifest.json` + `sw.js` | Installable web app (PWA) — a standalone recorder with history and optional AI cleanup | Any phone / PC browser | --- ## Quick start ### Desktop (Chrome extension) — about 2 minutes 1.
