HIV continues to be a major public health issue in Africa, with a high number of people living with the virus, especially in sub-Saharan regions. While prevention and treatment efforts have improved, HIV is a lifelong condition, making it crucial to track data on this affected. # HIV-trends-in-high-burden-areas HIV continues to be a major public health issue in Africa, with a high number of people living with the virus, especially in sub-Saharan regions. While prevention and treatment efforts have improved, HIV is a lifelong condition, making it crucial to track data on this affected. This analysis investigates the global burden of HIV using data from the WHO Global Observatory (2000–2023) and multidimensional poverty indicators from the World Bank. Visualizations were developed to show HIV trends in countries accounting for 75% of global cases, both globally and within each WHO region. The datasets were merged to examine the relationship between HIV prevalence and multidimensional poverty, including components such as income, education, school enrolment, electricity access, sanitation, and drinking water. Mixed-effects modeling was applied to account for random effects by country and year, providing insights into how structural disparities contribute to HIV vulnerability across regions.
