## Overview
CRAIS is an open-source climate-smart agri-intelligence system designed for women and youth smallholder farmers in Botswana. It integrates farm data capture, climate risk advisory, yield tracking, and financial resilience scoring into a single accessible platform.
## Problem
Women and youth smallholder farmers in Botswana face converging challenges:
- No access to localised climate intelligence
- No visibility into harvest yield or income projections
- No pathway to climate-linked financial products
- Structural exclusion from markets and cooperatives
## Solution
CRAIS provides:
- **Farm Data Capture** – farmer registry with crop, location, and seasonal data
- **Climate Risk Advisory** – automated risk scoring (Low/Medium/High) per farmer
- **Yield & Income Tracking** – estimated harvest and annual income per farm
- **Financial Resilience Scoring** – loan repayment capacity linked to farm output
- **Live Impact Dashboard** – real-time funder and programme dashboard

- Total farm area: 14.6 hectares
- Crops: Maize, Sorghum, Tomato, Cabbage, Pepper
- Gender: 6 women, 3 men
- Age groups: Youth (18-35) and Adult (36+)
- Climate risk distribution: Low, Medium, High
- Corridor: South East/Kgatleng
## Target Scale
- 500 farmers across 2 corridors by end of Year 1
- SMS and USSD advisory integration in Year 1
- Open-source release of full codebase in Q4 Year 1
