## Project Overview
Road transport crashes (RTCs) constitute a significant global public health and development challenge, resulting in immense human, social, and economic losses annually.
The World Health Organization reported that 92% of the world's road traffic fatalities occur in Low and Middle Income Countries, the risk of death in road traffic is three times higher in low-income countries compared to high-income countries.
The fatality rates are highest in African Region. In Nigeria, road transport crashes constitute a great problem requiring urgent attention.
## Objectives
Road traffic injuries remain the leading cause of death for young adults, with a disproportionate 92% of fatalities occurring in Low and Middle Income Countries, where fatality rates are three times higher than in high-income countries. Therefore, this is a descriptive analysis that investigate the incidence of Road transport crashes in Nigeria.
## Data Sources
The Data used for this analysis is gotten from National Bureau of Statistics database (www.nigerianstat.gov.ng). The Ms Excel file contained the data which is grouped into sections of
- Nine (9) columns and 38 rows each for Road traffic crashes on state basis each quarter from 2021 – 2024. the column heading includes Fatal, Serious, Minor, Total cases, Numbered Injured, Number killed, Total Casualty, People involved.
- Twenty (20) columns and 38 rows for the causative factors of road traffic crashes on state basis each quarter from 2021 – 2024
- Two rows and 15 columns each for the number of vehicles involved in road traffic crashes
- Category of vehicles involved road traffic crashes
- Sex distribution of persons injured
