Detects unauthorized land-use changes near protected ecological zones by comparing before/after satellite imagery using Gemini Vision — flags deforestation, encroachment, and illegal construction with severity scoring. # ARBORA **A concept prototype for satellite-based monitoring of protected ecological zones.** ARBORA is a student project exploring how satellite imagery comparison could help flag possible unauthorized land-use changes — like deforestation or encroachment — near protected reserves. It's a UI/concept demo, not a deployed or operational system. --- ## 🌳 Problem Protected ecological zones are sometimes affected by illegal deforestation and unauthorized development, and manual monitoring can be slow and resource-limited. This project explores what a satellite-based monitoring interface for that problem might look like. ## ✨ What It Explores ### 1. Satellite Monitoring Map (concept) - A mock interactive map view of protected areas with simple threat-priority labels (Critical / High / Moderate) - Illustrative reserve boundary and buffer zone overlays ### 2. Before/After Image Comparison - Side-by-side and swipe-based comparison of two satellite image captures of the same area - A basic breakdown UI showing possible detected changes and severity labels ### 3. Action Dispatch UI (mockup only) - A conceptual interface sketch showing what a response/dispatch panel *could* look like (patrol, drone recon, stop-work order, etc.) - Not connected to any real enforcement system, agency, or hardware — purely illustrative ## 🧰 Tech Stack Satellite: Landsat AI/ML: Python, OpenCV Maps: Leaflet Backend: FastAPI / Flask Database: PostgreSQL + PostGIS Frontend: React / Flutter ## ⚠️ Disclaimer This is an academic prototype/concept demo only. It does not perform real satellite analysis, is not connected to any enforcement agency, and should not be treated as a functioning monitoring or dispatch system. ## 📄 License MIT
