This project is a research project with real data, surveyed in Uganda. It was a group project. # 🌱 Gamification in Agroforestry: Boosting Farmer Motivation Through Narrative & Social Incentives ## 🧠 About the Project This research study explores how gamification can enhance **farmer motivation** for engaging in **agroforestry practices**. The project tested two types of gamified interventions — **narrative-based storytelling** and **social incentives (leaderboards)** — to evaluate their effect on motivation and willingness to participate. > 📍 **Focus:** Smallholder farmers in the Global South > 🎓 **Course:** Bachelor Research Project – Maastricht University, Business Analytics > 🧪 **Grade Received:** 8.5/10 --- ## 🔬 Research Objectives - To assess the impact of **narrative gamification** on intrinsic motivation - To assess the impact of **social incentive gamification** on extrinsic motivation - To understand the broader relationship between gamified design elements and **farmer behavioral change** --- ## 👨‍💻 My Role This was almost a **two-person thesis**. My teammate handled the **SEM (Structural Equation Modeling)**, while I was responsible for: - All other statistical analyses (non-SEM) - Visualizations, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis - **Data cleaning, recoding, and formatting** - Full collaboration on writing, design, survey structure - Interpreting the outcomes and writing analysis sections We shared every aspect of the project together, but I focused heavily on the **applied statistical analysis**, interpretation of results, and real-world linkage. --- ## 📊 Methods Used - **Data Collection**: 3 experimental groups via online surveys (Qualtrics) - **Analysis**: - Descriptive statistics - Chi-square tests, t-tests - ANOVA (for between-group comparisons) - Correlation matrices - SEM (teammate-led, included for completeness)
