3-page Power BI dashboard analysing maternal health outcomes across 37 Nigerian states. Built for HealthBridge Nigeria Initiative using NDHS 2023-24 data. # Nigeria Maternal Health Intelligence **Client:** HealthBridge Nigeria Initiative **Data:** NDHS 2023-24 · 37 states · Federal Ministry of Health & ICF **Stack:** Python · Pandas · SQLite · Power BI Desktop · Excel --- ## The Problem HealthBridge Nigeria was building donor slide decks manually every quarter. Two weeks of work per cycle. Program officers making resource allocation decisions from anecdote, not data. Their core question: which states are underperforming on maternal health outcomes relative to their health facility density, and why? This project answers that. --- ## What I Built A 3-page Power BI dashboard covering all 37 Nigerian states, built on NDHS 2023-24 survey data. The full pipeline runs from raw Excel through Python cleaning, SQLite analysis, and Power BI visualisation — every step documented in the notebooks. **Page 1 — National Overview** KPI cards (national averages for ANC 4+, skilled attendance, facility delivery), composite score bar chart ranked across all 37 states, tier distribution, and zone comparison. At a glance: 9 states need urgent intervention. **Page 2 — State Scorecard** Full colour-coded table of all 37 states with tier badges, red/amber/green cell shading per indicator, and a zone panel showing ANC, skilled attendance, and facility delivery bars per geopolitical zone. **Page 3 — Root Cause Breakdown** Three focused visuals: the quality trap (8 states with facilities but without skilled staff), a facility vs skilled staff gap comparison across selected states, and the family planning demand-supply crisis broken down by performance tier. --- ## Key Findings 9 critical states — all in the North: Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Borno, Bauchi. The North-South divide is not subtle. South West scores 86.7 average composite score; North West scores 20.8. That's not a gap, that's a different country within the same country. 8 states sit in what the analysis calls the quality trap: Kaduna, Taraba, …
