Chrome extension for typing tone marks and diacritics across African languages such as Igbo, Amharic, Yorùbá, Hausa, Twi, etc and more. # TonalKeys - African Language Keyboard (Chrome Extension) This keyboard is for tonal African languages that require tone marks or diacritics. Download and unzip this folder 2. Open Chrome and go to `chrome://extensions/` 3. Enable **Developer mode** (toggle in top-right corner) 4. Click **"Load unpacked"** 5. Select the `tonal-keys` folder 6. The tonalKeys icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar ## How to Use ### Quick Start 1. Click the TonalKeys icon in your toolbar 2. Select your language from the list 3. Turn the toggle **ON** 4. Start typing! ### How Typing Works Type normally with your keyboard as you always do. When you need a special character that isn't on your keyboard, tap it from the **floating character bar** that appears at the bottom-right of every page. - The bar shows the characters for whichever language you've selected - Click any character to insert it at your cursor position - Drag the bar to reposition it, or collapse/hide it when you don't need it ### Compose Box (for Google Docs, Sheets, Notion, etc.) Some apps render text on a canvas, which blocks direct character insertion. On those pages, the floating bar shows a **compose box** (✎ icon) — type into it as you normally would, click characters from the palette when you need them, then hit **Copy All** and paste with `Ctrl+V` into your target app. ### Character Maps **Yorùbá:** ẹ ọ ṣ + tone marks (à á ā) on all vowels **Igbo:** ị ọ ụ ṅ + tone marks **Hausa:** ɓ ɗ ƙ ƴ + tone marks **Fula (Fu …
