1. Project Title
SafeReach: Community Safety Alert Platform - Real-Time, Location-Based Emergency Alerts.
1.2 Project Summary
SafeReach is a proposed web-based community safety alert platform designed to give residents a centralized, verified channel for reporting, confirming, and receiving emergency information in real time. The project was developed by a nineteen-member Data Analytics Team as the analytical and evidentiary foundation for the wider SafeReach product, working alongside product design, backend, and frontend teams under Capstone Alliance 46 at VEPHLA University.
The analytics team's contribution combined primary research conducted directly with Nigerian citizens with a secondary analysis of a large public global disaster dataset (EM-DAT), producing a data-driven case for the platform together with two interactive dashboards, a full analytical write-up, and a set of implementation recommendations.
1.3 Project Status
The analytics phase of the project is complete: data collection, cleaning, exploratory and in-depth analysis, dashboard development, and the compiled technical report have all been delivered. The wider SafeReach product, including a live platform, has not been built or deployed; the analytics deliverables were produced to validate demand and inform the design and engineering teams who take the project forward.
1.4 Project Type
Team-based capstone data analytics project, undertaken as part of a multidisciplinary university capstone alliance combining data analytics, product design, and software engineering tracks.
