# Public Health Intelligence Dashboard – Zambia Mortality Analysis ## Overview This Power BI project provides an interactive dashboard for analyzing mortality data in Zambia. Using WHO mortality rates and population data, the dashboard estimates deaths by cause, sex, and total population. Users can dynamically filter by sex to explore gender-specific outcomes and overall trends. ## Features - Estimated deaths calculated from WHO per-100,000 death rates. - Interactive slicers for Male, Female, and Both Sexes. - Population-weighted mortality calculations using sex-specific population data. - KPI cards and bar charts for easy visualization of mortality trends. - Data modeling using dimension tables and relationships for accurate analysis. ## Datasets - WHO mortality dataset (Cause of Death, Sex, Rate per 100,000, Year) - Zambia population dataset (Population by Sex) > Note: Both datasets used are publicly available WHO statistics. ## Key Skills - Power BI & DAX - Public Health Analytics - Data Modeling and Visualization - Population-weighted calculations - Slicer configuration and interactive dashboard design ## Usage 1. Open the Power BI file (`.pbix`) in Power BI Desktop. 2. Use the slicers to filter by sex (Male, Female, Both Sexes). 3. View KPIs, bar charts, and other visuals to explore estimated deaths. 4. Interact with the dashboard to analyze mortality trends by cause and sex. ## Notes - The "Both Sexes" values are WHO population-weighted estimates and not a simple sum of male and female deaths. - All DAX measures are sex-aware to ensure correct population weighting. - This dashboard is intended for educational and portfolio purposes.
