## 🚨 The Problem
In Nigeria, maternal mortality is rarely caused by a total lack of medical knowledge—it is caused by **delays**.
In rural clinics (PHCs) across Ebonyi and other states:
* **Frontline workers** are overstretched and often lack specialized obstetric training.
* **Specialist doctors** are rarely on-site.
* **Internet connectivity** is unreliable or non-existent (making cloud apps useless).
* **Legacy Hardware:** Clinics often run on donated, older desktop PCs.
Without immediate decision support, early warning signs of **Pre-Eclampsia**, **Sepsis**, and **Hemorrhage** are missed until it is too late. These delays turn preventable complications into fatalities.
## đź’ˇ The Solution
**SafeMother** is an **offline-first Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS)** engineered to assist frontline workers in rapid triage.
It does not replace the doctor. It **screens, prioritizes, and escalates**.
It answers one critical question: **“Does this patient need urgent referral right now?”**
