Since Sands, Maddieson & Ladefoged (1996), no in-depth instrumental investigation into Hadza phonetics has been undertaken and several key phonetic and phonological questions remain open. This presentation will discuss those open questions, as well as present novel data which promise to contribute significantly to our understanding of Hadza phonetics. Of particular interest is the groundbreaking information now available with advances in 3D/4D ultrasonography, providing spatially and temporally rich data on lingual articulation. Note: This talk has not gone through a process of peer review, and findings should therefore be treated as preliminary and subject to change. Acknowledgement and citation: Coburn, Jeremy. 2020.
