Harnessing Artificial Intelligence in IVF and Fertility Nursing: Global Perspectives with Insights from West Africa

This paper explores the growing role of Artificial intelligence (AI) in assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs), specifically In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and its impact on fertility nursing globally, with a focus on West Africa. it examines how AI enhances decision-making, embryo selection, predictive analytics, patient communication and workflow optimization in assisted reproductive technologies. The study mentions how AI-driven models improve efficiency, accuracy and the rate of patient centered care in fertility nursing while paying attention to key ethical and legal considerations such as equal access, data privacy, algorithm bias and informed consent.

The research builds on international practices in countries like United states, Spain, and Japan while comparing adoption challenges in West Africa, where accessibility to the use of invitro fertilization is limited due to cost, infrastructure and regulatory gaps. it also highlights the importance of empowering fertility nurses with digital literacy and ability to incorporate AI responsibly into clinical practice by closing the gap between technology and nursing care, this work draws attention to the potential in AI to improve the outcome of reproductive health globally, while offering tailored perspective for West Africa.

Artificial Intelligence is not a replacement for fertility nurses and specialist, but as a support tool that empowers them to deliver more accurate, ethical and holistic care.
