Healthcare worker well-being, perceived safety, and environmental health in Zambia

Healthcare workers face health and safety risks arising from the healthcare facility environment. The availability of water, sanitation, hygiene, waste management, and cleaning services can mitigate these risks. We designed a survey to assess healthcare workers' job satisfaction, burnout, confidence in infection control, safety climate, and sanitation-related quality of life through a series of psychometric scales. We administered the survey to 329 healthcare workers and assessed healthcare facility conditions in 34 healthcare facilities in urban and rural regions of Zambia. This dataset contains the individual healthcare worker survey responses as well as information on the environmental health conditions at the healthcare facilities where participants worked.
