Healthy Heart Africa (HHA) is AstraZeneca's flagship hypertension and cardiovascular disease program, implemented in Nigeria in partnership with the Federal Government through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA). The program integrates hypertension screening, diagnosis, and management into existing primary healthcare facilities, with the aim of improving early detection and access to affordable antihypertensive treatment.
From October 2023 to December 2024, hypertension screening under HHA was conducted at the Prototype Primary Healthcare Centre, Fufu, in Akanbi 1 & 2 Ward, Ilorin South LGA, Kwara State, both at the facility and through outreach to surrounding villages. As Recorder, I was responsible for documenting client information and blood pressure readings, supporting the confirmatory diagnosis process, and maintaining records linked to dispensing of antihypertensive medication.
