Abstract This chapter contains newly constructed English translations and International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) transcriptions of eight poems by Hennie Aucamp from the work The Wind Drones like a Ghoera: A Bushman’s Myth Song Cycle. Titles include “The Sun,” “The Stars,” “The Moon,” “The Sun and Moon,” “The Milky Way,” “The Clouds,” “The Wind,” and “Cradle Song.” The cycle is set to music by twentieth- and twenty-first-century composer Niel van der Watt. Illuminating footnotes are given to enhance the reader’s comprehension of the unique biodiversity of the Southern African landscape and multicultural distinctiveness of its people. Lyric diction recommendations are provided for best practices for singing in Afrikaans. Topics include Khoikhoin myths, storytelling, death, and nature.
