The speaker tells of a trickster narrative in which an elephant carried honey and headed for a wedding. On his way he met hare who offered to carry it. Hare drank all the honey and filled the honey bag with stones. When they stopped, hare disappeared into a burrow. Francis Lesingo is very knowledgeable in Okiek language and culture. He introduced me (Jane Oduor)to the Okiek community in Nessuit. In this project the actor is a consultant as well as a community mobilizer Jane Oduor is the Okiek language documentor. Sila Kibet Simatwo is a PhD student working on Okiek language. His involvement as a researcher enabled to assist in this language documentation project. He learnt language ducumentation techniques alongside other members ofthe Okiek community. recording during this sessionthe laus in Patrick works within the Okiek community as a social worker and community mobilizer. In this project he also assisted in community mobilization, video recording, translating and annotating. Simon Konana Konini is a respected community elder who took who participated in many documentation sessions. He is the narrator of the story in the second session (okiek_Narratives002).
