Data relating to infants exposed to HIV born between 2018 and 2019 who received a birth HIV PCR POC test at a Provincial Tertiary Hospital in South Africa. They were compared with a historical control born between 2014 and 2016 who received only laboratory-based HIV PCR testing. Additional data included data relating to their mothers and the infants' six-month outcomes (mortality, retention in care and HIV viral load suppression) .
