Recognizing that mainstream occupational therapy frameworks are primarily rooted in Western ideologies, this review seeks to map and analyze conceptual practice models (CPMs) and practice frameworks (PFs) developed by African scholars specifically for occupational therapy practice within Sub-Saharan African contexts. The primary purpose of this scoping review is to identify, document, and synthesize existing African-developed OT CPMs and PFs. Through this process, the review aims to uncover how African philosophies, indigenous knowledge systems, and communal worldviews have been integrated into these models and frameworks.
