Imaging technology in FASD screening: the potential for utilization by Oral Health practitioners in the Republic of South Africa

This study will be a collaboration between UWC Dental Faculty and Computer Science. It will be facilitated by local NGO involved in FASD research. It consists of several phases: (1) Questionnaire of OHPs knowledge, beliefs, practices and willingness to screen for FASD; (2) A Scoping review evaluating the state of evidence of facial imaging technologies in screening for FASD; (3) Test the accuracy of the Face2Gene app in screening for FASD in a South African cohort; (4) Data synthesis and study write up; (5) The development of guidelines and recommendations for the use of facial imaging technology to screen for FASD by South Africans OHPs.
