IMPACT OF COTTON GINNERY INDUSTRY ON EMPLOYMENT GENERATION IN ZAMFARA STATE, OF NIGERIA

This paper examined the employment potentials of Cotton Ginnery Industry in Zamfara State, Nigeria. The major objective of the study is to investigate whether the ginnery industry have any significant contribution to employment generation in Zamfara state. The study employed the used of primary sources of data. The data was obtained from survey of five (5) ginnery industry, respondents were randomly selected and administered questionnaire. Consequently, descriptive statistics and multiple regressions were employed for data analysis. The results revealed that, years of experience of the respondents and number of hours per day have significant and positive impact on ginnery industry's employment generation capacity; whereas government support, number of tons' gin per day and respondents level of education does not conform a priori expectation, even though they are statistically significant. Therefore, it was revealed that, there is a significant impact between the dependent variable and independent variables. Finally, the study recommends among others that, government should improve its financial and policy support to ginnery industry, so that they could create more employments opportunities for thousands of Zamfara state people in particular, and Nigerian in general.
