This study examined the impact of humanitarian aid on post-conflict development in Borno State. The study was motivated by the persistent humanitarian crisis resulting from the Boko Haram insurgency, which has severely disrupted economic activities, social services, infrastructure, and community cohesion in the region. A survey research design was adopted. The population of the study comprised 22,450 respondents, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), humanitarian aid beneficiaries, community leaders, and officials of humanitarian organizations, from which a sample of 378 respondents was selected using a multi-stage sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. Findings revealed that humanitarian aid significantly contributes to economic recovery and livelihood restoration through improved income, skills acquisition, and livelihood opportunities. It also enhances the rehabilitation of social infrastructure, including schools, healthcare facilities, water supply, and sanitation systems. Furthermore, humanitarian interventions were found to promote social cohesion by fostering cooperation, trust, and peaceful coexistence among displaced and host communities. However, the study identified persistent challenges such as insecurity, inadequate funding, poor coordination among aid agencies, corruption, and dependency syndrome, which limit the effectiveness and sustainability of humanitarian interventions. The study concludes that while humanitarian aid plays a vital role in post-conflict recovery, its long-term impact depends on improved security, stronger coordination mechanisms, and sustainable development-oriented strategies.
