The IMPLEMENT-CVD research project investigated health system factors affecting implementation of fixed-dose combination therapy for hypertension in Kenya. This dataset contains de-identified transcripts of interviews conducted with patients receiving care for hypertension at government health facilities in Kiambu County, Kenya (24 transcripts) and family caregivers (6 transcripts) during 2022-2023. Broad themes covered include knowledge of hypertension/CVD, experience of being diagnosed with the condition, experience of (self-)management of the condition, and interactions with health care providers. Qualitative interviews conducted with patients and family caregivers to explore their experiences of treatment for hypertension and cardiovascular disease at government health facilities in Kiambu County, Kenya during 2022-2023. Interviews were conducted in-person by three interviewers: (1) Interviewer A: Male, Swahili/English speaking, qualitative researcher at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, Nairobi, Kenya; (2) Interviewer B: Female, English speaking, qualitative researcher at LSHTM, London, UK; (3) Interviewer C: Male, Swahili/English speaking, qualitative researcher at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust, Nairobi, Kenya. Data was transcribed and translated into English by professional bilingual transcribers/translators employed by KEMRI-WT. Transcripts were reviewed by interviewers A and B.
