Improving efficiency in the Nigerian aquaculture sector by employing Lean Production Systems. Survey Data. The survey was implemented to assess the efficiencies associated with employing Lean Production Systems in aquaculture production in Nigeria. The primary sampling unit was aquaculture farming households/farms. The survey was collected on the following 14 domains that were expected to benefit from Lean Production System: (1) time savings, (2) energy use, (3) feeding cost, (4) labor cost, (5) inventory space, (6) casual laborers employed, (7) medication cost, (8) feed quantity, (9) Labor time, (10) water treatment cost, (11) fish loss via flooding, (12) fish mortality, (13) transportation cost, and (14) maintenance cost. Data on aquaculture production were collected from individual and smallholder farmers. The survey captured detailed data about the sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents, including age, gender, experience, geographic location (state), farming system, farm type, operation size, and annual revenue from aquaculture.
