Improving WASH for healthcare facilities and women’s health: Testing the STREAMS approach in Malawi

This data comes from a project funded by the Fund for Innovation and Transformation and Global Affairs Canada titled "Improving WASH for healthcare facilities and women’s health: Testing the STREAMS approach in Malawi". The research sought to test an innovative approach to improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in health care facilities in Northern Malawi, including understanding the effects on women specifically. Data was collected from four key groups; facility staff, facility managers, patients, and guardians (people who are at the health care facility to care for friends or family members who are patients). Data was collected pre intervention and post intervention and was also collected from a neighbouring district which did not receive the intervention as a comparison. Data was also analyzed for insights into differential treatment at health facilities based on patient characteristics.
