The paper focused on the prospects and challenges of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into Nigerian education. The introduction section showed the beginning of AI as robots in the ancient Greeks. This was followed with clarification of the concepts before the prospects and challenges of AI were critically considered. Effort was also made to do in-depth review of related studies. Considering the huge prospects and challenges of AI in Nigerian educational systems, this study advocates an increase in AI inclusion into Nigerian educational system. Recommendations were finally made that transparency and integrity in the use of personal data for AI systems must be ensured and government policies should be capable of simultaneously addressing multiple questions to generate solutions and regulations so as to bring the opportunities of AI to the field of education. Also, universities, conferences and other stakeholders in AI technology should ensure the participation of women and minority groups in AI research and development.  Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, Challenges and Prospects, Nigerian Education
