The preservation of architectural heritage is crucial for fostering a strong sense of identity and pride among current and future generations. Historic monuments and traditional neighborhoods represent our collective history and provide a tangible connection to our roots. To enhance the preservation of and engagement with these sites, our project integrates emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and video game design. Central to our approach is a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative analysis, conducted to measure the impact and effectiveness of these technologies on two categories of users. AI allows for the rapid analysis of large datasets — including photographs and historical documents — enabling precise virtual reconstruction and restoration of ancient buildings. This analysis will assess the accuracy and efficiency of AI in enhancing documentation and restoration processes. VR and video game design offer immersive and interactive experiences, particularly for younger generations. By exploring architectural heritage in virtual environments, users can develop a deeper interest in cultural preservation. Our research will evaluate how these immersive experiences influence user engagement and educational outcomes, comparing traditional methods with innovative, gamified interactions. Our project also aims to create an interactive and collaborative database dedicated to Morocco's historical sites. This platform will serve as a collaborative space where users can contribute to the documentation and preservation of historical sites through the sharing of knowledge, images, and videos. By incorporating VR, AI, and video game elements, the database will offer visitors an immersive experience. The quantitative and qualitative analyses will determine how these features impact user involvement and the overall effectiveness of the platform in promoting heritage preservation. In conclusion, our research-driven approach — incorporating AI, VR, and video game design — aims to significantly enhance the documentation, restoration, and engagement with historical sites. The quantitative and qualitative analyses will provide valuable insights into the utility and impact of these technologies. This innovative and sustainable methodology not only preserves cultural legacy but also actively engages the community, particularly younger generations, in safeguarding our collective history. Through these practices, we can ensure that the rich architectural heritage of Morocco continues to inspire and educate future generations in an engaging and meaningful manner.
