The Iraqw Texts in Society Project is a broad project aimed at improving the Iraqw language materials available to the Iraqw language community. This talk is a report on two aspects of this project: Giel van Butselaar's creation of a simplified grammar resource of the Iraqw language, and Tim Smits' online Iraqw spelling course. Discussion focuses on the purpose, methodology, as well as shortcomings of these activities.

Note: This talk has not gone through a process of peer review, and findings should therefore be treated as preliminary and subject to change. Acknowledgement and citation: Smits, Tim, and Giel van Butselaar. 2019. Iraqw Texts and Society. Talk given at East Africa Day Leiden 27/09/2019.
