Língua, Memória e Escrita - Estamos a usar o melhor sistema de escrita possível ou apenas o sistema que herdámos?

 This research examines Mandombe as an African system of writing, thought, and knowledge production, seeking to understand its epistemological structure and to determine the extent to which it responds linguistically to the particular phonological structures of African languages, shapes cognitive habits, and may influence the ways in which people perceive, communicate, and organise social life, thereby contributing to the preservation of the collective memory of being within the Bantu context. The study begins with the historical and cultural genealogy of Mandombe, from its creation by David Wabeladio Payi in 1978, and traces the development of its structures and principles. It examines historical, linguistic, anthropological, epistemological, mathematical, and computational contributions, with particular attention to the works of Helma Pasch, Ramon Sarró, Kibavuidi Nsiangani, Mbanza Hanza, and Taraje Solomon. Methodologically, the research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, combining historical and documentary analysis, epistemological analysis, formal and mathematical analysis, linguistic inquiry, and computational analysis. Each principle is treated as a unit of analysis and traced through the following chain: origin, formulation, structuring, interpretation, formalisation, operationalisation, application, outcome, validation, and reproduction. In this way, the study seeks to contribute to a systematic understanding of Mandombe as a knowledge-production system and to the contemporary debate on African epistemologies and writing systems, science, technology, and the decolonisation of knowledge.Keywords: Mandombe; African epistemology; science; technology; African writing systems; decolonisation of knowledge.
