Lake Management: A Case Study

International audience Nowadays, the preoccupation with the environment is increasing. This awareness is a realistic and pragmatic choice owing to the numerous negative impacts of non-environmental-friendly technologies. Eutrophication is one of the major threats to aquatic ecosystems such as lakes. In terms, it may lead to the complete degradation of water quality as well as its environment. As the lake is deeply involved in many ecosystem services, the restoration of eutrophic lakes is very important. The analysis of the water quality of Efoulan Lake shows that Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Nitrate, CO2 and orthophosphate were 0.08 mg/L, 34 mg/L, 40.5 mg/L and 40 mg/L respectively. This confirms the dystrophic character of the lake. The restoration solutions include dry dredging, sanitation of the River NTSOMO (the lake's tributary), and political measures to encourage the adoption of decentralized green systems.
