Technology enhanced learning forms the broad topic under which learning analytics resides. The specific topic for this research article, funded by the ANGELS Foundation Nigeria, relates to the opportunities Nigerian educational institutions have to exploit a growing technology enhanced sub-field called learning analytics. This article is written to close the current gaps in learning analytics knowledge in Nigeria. Some of the opportunities for advancement that learning analytics can bring to Nigerian educational institutions include prediction of graduate enrolment numbers, identification of target courses at universities, improvement in understanding of learner behaviour, improvement in Nigerian curriculums, prediction of student performance, and improvement in instructor performance at Nigerian universities.
