LivHealth Kiswahili Corpus is empowering local marginalised pastoral communities to correctly identify livestock syndromes and get timely interventions from qualified livestock practitioners. Using advanced and automated text processing, the project has build Kiswahili text-to-speech models that helps disseminate disease information to marginalized communities. By empowering these communities to access disease information in local languages (Kiswahili), the pastoralists continously build their knowledge on diseases affecting their livestock. This knowledge enables them to take better care of their livestock as well as communicate effectively with the licensed veterinary officers in order to receive timely and appropriate interventions from local governments or private practitioners.
